Kathmandu University Student Welfare Council is going to organise KU-FETE 2007 in association with The

Kathmandu Post and Kantipur FM 96.1 on May 4 and 5 2007.

Not Nepal tour its Busy Bee tour

We canceled our plan to go for India tour as department informed us that the winter vacation will be short. But we decided to go for Nepal tour and got permission from the department. We had planed to visit Lumbini, Pokhara, Dharan, Ilam and Daman. We were dreaming of enjoying at those places. But unrest situation on Terai area became our enemy, we postponed our tour program. Lastly we planned to visit Lumbini and Pokhara only and planned to celebrate New Year in Pokhara. This time we done it and left for Bhairahawa on April 11. Next day we visited Lumbini area and reached Pokhara completing our 7 hour journey by bus. We stayed in hotel which we had already booked at Lakeside.

After taking meal at night we entered inside "Mela"(street fest.) where Deepak Bajracharya was performing live. We also went to Busy Bee Restaurant and drank some bottle of beer. Night life around the Lakeside was fantastic. On the next day we visited "Vishwo Shanti Stupa",Devi's falls and three caves Gupteshwor,Mahendra and chamero. To celebrate New Year eve we call all of our friends to Busy Bee. We all gathered there n enjoyed drinking and dancing. Suhrit and Avinash were always seen chatting with 'Kuerenis' (they were on mission). Small bro Sujan was also jhyap on that eve. We returned back to hotel at about 1:00am.Next day we went for boating in the Fewa Lake at morning with some friends and took rest at day time and I went for cycling at eve with Sushil and Bipul. At night we went again the same restaurent and enjoyed there.

On the second last day of our tour we visited Sarangkot. The view of Machhapuchhere range was not quite clear. We took some snaps n returned back to take rest to the hotel. At night we again went to same restaurant and became jhyap. Local artist were performing live and they sang one song for us. None of us were fresh on that day. We returned back to hotel walking in the rain at 2:00 am. After 1 hour discussion(kich kich and fight) with hotel owner we left Pokhara next morning. I left Pokhara physically but the memories of precious moment I spent with friends on lakeside and in Busy Bee restaurant will never erase from my brain.

सूचना-प्रविधिको बाटोमा नेपाल

दुर्भाग्य नै भन्नुपर्छ,हाम्रो नेपाल विश्वकै दोस्रो गरिब राष्ट्र। जतिसुकै गरिब र अविकसित भएपनि विगत डेढ दशकमा यहाँ IT क्षेत्रमा भएको द्रुत विकासलाई भने मान्नैपर्छ। त्यसैले नेपालको कुनै पनि ठाँउ आज अलग्गै जिल्ला वा गाँउ बनेर रहेको छैन। नेपालको कुन कुनामा के भैरहेकोछ छिनभरमै थाहा पाउन सकिन्छ। कुनै समय थियो जतिखेर कुनै एकठाँउमा घटेका मह॒- त्वपूर्ण घटनाबारे अर्कोठाँउका मानिसहरु अनभिज्ञ रहन्थे। तरपनि १५‌‌‍/२० दिन हिडेर चिठ्ठीपत्र तथा खबर आदानप्रदान गरिन्थ्यो र एकअर्का‍बारे जानकारी पाइन्थ्यो। तर विश्वसंचार क्षेत्रको व्यापक विकासले गर्दा अहिले यस्ताकुराहरु एकदमै सहज भएका छन्, जसबाट नेपालपनि अछूतो रहन सकेको छैन। नेपालमा पनि टेलिफोन,टेलिभिजन अनि कम्प्यूटर प्रयोगकर्ताहरुको संख्या दिन-प्रतिदिन बढ्दैगइरहेको छ। रेडियो नपुगेको त सायद नेपालको कुनै ठाँउ छैन र टेलिफोन,टेलिभिजन नपुगेका ठाँउहरुपनि औंलामा गन्न सकिने मात्र छन्। सूचनाप्रविधिको संजालले विश्वनै साँघुरिरहेको अवस्थामा यो विशाल नेपालपनि आज एक सानो सहर बन्न पुगेको छ।
सूचनाप्रविधिको कुरा गर्दा सबैभन्दा आधुनिक विकासको अनुपम उपहार हो- कम्प्यूटर,जसबिना सम्पूर्ण IT क्षेत्र अधूरो रहन्छ। तरपनि कम्प्यूटरको लागत मूल्य बढी पर्नेभएकोले सर्वसाधारण नेपालीको खासै पहुँच पुग्न सकेको छैन। दिन-प्रतिदिन मूल्य घट्दै- जानाले यसका प्रयोगकर्ताहरु भने अवश्यै बढ्दैगइरहेका छन्। कम्प्यूटरका बारेमा सुन्नेहरुले देख्न पाएका छन् भने देख्नेहरुले चलाइरहेका होलान्। सर्वसाधारणहरुको पनि प्रत्यक्ष वा अप्रत्यक्षरुपले कम्प्यूटरसँग साइनो गाँसिइसकेकोछ। झन् अचेल त राष्ट्रका सरकारी कार्यालयहरुमा समेत कम्प्यूटरको प्रयोग बढ्दो छ। कतिपय जिल्लामा त नागरिकता वितरण समेत कम्प्यूटर प्रणालीबाट भैरहेको छ। यसलाई एउटा उपलब्धिनै मान्न सकिन्छ र सहजै अनुमान लगाउन सकिन्छ कि कम्प्यूटर भित्रिएको केहि वर्षमा नेपालले सूचना क्षेत्रमा कति ठूलो फड्को मारिसकेको रहेछ।
ग्रामवेलले टेलिफोनको अविष्कार गरि संचारक्षेत्रमा नौलो आयाम थपे। टलिभिजनको अविष्कार भएपछि त मानिसहरुले घरमै संसार देख्नसक्ने भए। उच्चप्रविधिको विकाससँगै मानिसहरु सुविधासम्पन्न हुदै गए। कम्प्यूटरको विकास भएपछि त मानिसहरु नयाँ युगमा पदार्पण गरेका छन्। विश्वको संचार जगतलाई उच्चतम विन्दुमा पुर्‍याउन विभिन्न कम्पनी/संगठनहरुको महत्वपूर्ण योगदान छ,जसमा अग्रपंक्तिमा IBM,APPLE,MICROSOFT,ORACLE जस्ता विश्वकै धनी संगठनहरु आउछन्। यी संगठनहरु धनी हुनुको पछाडि पनि एउटै रहस्य छ-विश्व संचार क्षेत्रमा यिनीहरुले पुर्‍याएको योगदानको प्रतिफल। प्रतिस्पर्धात्मक व्यावसायिक युगमा यस्तै अरु धेरै संगठनहरु उदाएका कारण आज IT उपकरणहरुको मूल्य र आकार घट्दैछ भने कार्यक्षमता बढ्दैछ। यसले गर्दा नेपाली उपभोक्ताहरुले पनि सर्वसुलभरुपमा उपभोग गर्न पाएका छन्।
नेपालको जटिल भूबनोटले गर्दा सूचना-प्रविधिको क्षेत्रमा सोचेजस्तो विकास पक्कै पनि भएको छैन। अस्थिर सरकार,आन्तरिक मामिला र अन्य विभिन्न कारणले गर्दा IT विकासकालागि विदेशी लगानी नेपाल भित्रिन सकेको छैन। काठमाण्डौ विश्‍वविद्यालयको छेउमै रहेको नेपालकै पहिलो IT Park निर्माण कार्यपनि बिचमै रोकिएको छ,जस्को पूर्णता नेपालको सूचना-प्रविधिको क्षेत्रको विकासकालागि कोशेढुङ्गा सावित हुनसक्छ। संगैको छिमेकी राष्ट्र भारतले IT क्षेत्रमा गरेको प्रचुर विकासले विश्वमै तहल्का मच्चाइरहेको छ। त्यसको प्रभाव अवश्यै पनि नेपालमा परेको छ। ITक्षेत्रको विकासका लागि भारत हाम्रोलागि आदर्श मुलुक हुनसक्छ। त्यसैले भारतमा फस्टाएको टेक्नोलोजी नेपालकालागि कत्तिको उपयुक्त छ,अध्यन गर्नु जरुरी छ। सम्पूर्ण नेपालीलाई आधुनिक विकासको उच्चतम स्वाद दिन सबैभन्दा पहिले सूचना-प्रविधिको क्षेत्रको विकास नितान्त आवश्यक छ।
साक्षरता % नै कम रहेको नेपालमा अहिले नै IT क्षेत्रको विकास हुन असम्भव छ भन्नु पूर्णत गलत हो। उदाहरणका लागि नजिकैको छिमेकी भारतलाई लिन सकिन्छ। केही वर्ष अघिसम्म साक्षरता ५०% भन्दा कम रहेको यो देशले आज IT क्षेत्रमा उल्लेखनीय प्रगति गरेको छ। कुनैपनि क्षेत्रको विकास एकैचोटि हुदैन। यो त निरन्तर अगाडि बढ्दैजाने प्रक्रिया हो। नेपालको कुरा गर्दा वर्षौदेखि संचार क्षेत्रको अग्रणी रहेको नेपाल टेलिकमको एकाधिकार तोड्दै आज स्पाइस नेपालले आफ्नो सेवा प्रदान गरिरहेको छ। नेपाल टेलिभिजनलाई माथ दिनसक्ने धेरै च्यानलहरु आइसकेका छन्। FM रेडियो हरुको त गन्नै नसकिने स्थिति छ। सूचना-प्रविधि बजारमा स्वश्थ प्रतिस्पर्धा भएमा आम नेपाली उपभोक्ताले सर्वसुलभ ढङ्गले सेवा पाउने कुरामा दुईमत छैन। त्यस्तै चैत्रको अन्तिम सातातिर सम्पन्न CAN-INFOTECH मा विभिन्न कम्पनीहरुको उल्लेखनीय सहभागितालाई ठूलो उपलब्धि मान्न सकिन्छ। जसमा ११० कम्पनीका १८० स्टलहरु थिए र करिब तीन लाख नेपालीहरुले त्यसको अवलोकन गरेका थिए। यसबाट नेपालीहरुको नयाँ-नयाँ प्रविधितर्फको उत्सुकता सजिलै मूल्या‌‌ङ्कन गर्न सकिन्छ।
कुनैपनि देश आफै पूर्ण हुदैन। त्यहाँका जनताको निरन्तर मेहनत र परिश्रममा त्यो देशको भविष्य लुकेको हुन्छ। दोस्रो विश्वयूद्धमा ध्वस्त जापान आज जुनसुकै क्षेत्रमा पनि अगाडि छ। त्यो त्यहाँका जनताहरुको परिश्रमको प्रतिफल हो। अमेरिका विश्वकै सर्वशक्तिमान र सम्पन्न राष्ट्र हो,तर त्यो राष्ट्रपनि पूर्ण भने छैन। दु:खको कुरा के भने त्यहाँ वर्षेनी धेरै मानिसहरु क्यान्सरबाट मर्ने गर्छन्। त्यहाँका डक्टरहरुको योगदान के त? के तिनीहरुले त्यहाँका जनतालाई सकेजति सेवा दिईरहेका छैनन् त? अवश्य छन्,उनीहरु आफूसक्दो प्रयास गरिरहेकै छन्। सफलता एक रातमै पाइने चिज होइन,त्यो त कडा अनि निरन्तर परिश्रमको प्रतिफल हो। त्यसैले हामी नेपालीले पनि अगाडि बढेर काम गर्ने हो भने IT क्षेत्रमा प्रगति गर्ने सर्वोच्चतम राष्ट्रको हाराहारीमा पुग्न सक्छौ। नेपालका आन्तरिक समस्या समाधान भए सूचना प्रविधिमा सबैले चासो देखाएमा भविष्यको कुनै दिन विश्वकै IT क्षेत्रका महान हस्तीलाई समेत उछिनेमा कुनै आश्चर्य हुनेछैन।

Trip to BITS,Pilani

With the invitation of Student Union (BITS,Pilani) to attend APOGEE -2007, we seven members of Student Welfare Council (KU) left for New Delhi on 18th March 2007. From Kathmandu we selected Sunauli to had entrance to India. From Gorakhpur at 4:00 pm we got train for New Delhi and reached there next morning. We took bus from there and reached Pilani completing our five hours journey. We did contact to the organizer and they managed everything for our accommodation. We spent that day taking rest and in the evening we did visit market around there.

APOGEE is a mega event organized and controlled by Student Union of BITS. Main focus of this event is to reflect talents in the field of Computer, Electronics, Mechanics, and Civil Engineering, Music, Science and many others. There were many projects exhibited by students on their related field during APOGEE -2007. Beside this types of exhibition, programs like quiz, debate, paper presentation, computer games were also performed. Mithali was very fantastic musical program where we found the maximum number of audience. The auditorium was fully packed and some were enjoying the show standing on galleries and doors. In addition to this debate program Aahwan really impressed me a lot. Their logic was really praise worthy and seemed very intellectual. We also visited BIRLA museum and observed different types of project models related to Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering. We went to library and visited over there and collected lots of information.

We got very good response from organizer. They were very cooperative and we had pleasure to have dinner with General Secretary of Student Union of BITS. We shared many things and attended small meeting with Student Welfare Director of BITS. BITS students were very cultured and disciplined. Environment over there was very beautiful and fresh where we did see garden most of those places. It seemed as if it is like a park. On the fourth day we left Pilani and headed towards New Delhi with the fresh memory of BITS, Pilani in our mind and heart.

Sayari

Few month ago , i was at home and i asked my Indian Bhanjii about sayari. She didn't know much about this but she said some lines of them. I remember some of those lines which are as:

"हमने तुमको चाहा तुमने चाहा किसि ओरको

HELLO

Hi frens,don't no what to write ,let me think hai.....umnnn........ oh why i can't getting any topic to write about.I think there are many issues in Nepal these days and we can get lots of topic.But really my mind became totally blank when i start blogging first time. I can't get ,can't think anything special to write down here as my first content ....I am afraid how could i continue and update this blog.I can easily feel that my mind is not working. And finally i asked my friend to look at me .Is there something happens to me?My mind is not working. He looks at me for a while and thinks then he replied its saterday(holiday) man,why your mind will work.
